Kate Hall of Casco, Maine has been an inspiration to many as she worked hard to achieve her goals in track and field.

When she was just a freshman at Lake Region High School she knew she wanted to be at the 2016 Olympic trials and the 2020 Olympics.

According to Runner's World, she was well on her way when she competed at the 2015 New Balance Nationals in the long jump achieving a record-breaking jump of 22 feet, 5 inches. This paved the way for her goal of the 2016 Olympic trials where she placed 10th.

If all of her athletic achievements weren't impressive enough, Kate did it all while navigating and living with Type 1 Diabetes. She had to learn to advocate for her unique needs that didn't quite fit what her trainers and coaches were asking of her while attending college.

When she decided to break away from the confines of collegiate sport she made significant progress.

In January of 2020, Portland Press Herald reported that Hall was preparing to compete for a spot on the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team, not knowing of course the global events to follow pushing the 2020 Olympic Games to the 2020ne Olympic Games.

Still, she pressed on to achieve her goal to represent her country in Tokyo.

Kate announced today devastating news on Instagram that while training before a competition she landed incorrectly on a 30-inch box, attempted to catch herself, and ultimately hyperextended her knee resulting in a completely torn ACL.

This type of injury, unfortunately, comes with significant recovery time. So much so that the Olympic Games are out of the question this year.

One thing's for sure, Kate isn't going to let this injury keep her down. The 2024 Olympics in Paris, France is not that far off and we have no doubt Kate will be back and stronger than ever!
