This Wednesday, May 6th is National Nurses Day. The day kicks off National Nurses Week which, according to Time and Date, ends on May 12th. May 12th is also the birthday of Florence Nightingale, who is noted as the founder of professional nursing.

What a year to celebrate these heroes. Nurses and those who support them in the medical field have had to step up big time over the last month and a half. It's not just what they do, it's who they are.

Participating Dunkin' locations want to say "thank you" in the best way they know how, by offering free coffee and a donut.

This "thank you" isn't just for nurses. It's for all of those working in healthcare.

In conjunction with this event, Dunkin' is also giving a $200,000 grant to the organization First Descents to develop a program to assist healthcare workers who are experiencing trauma. The program has a focus in outdoor adventure programs that you can read more about here.

Spread the word to let your favorite healthcare worker know! I mean, they already run on Dunkin', right?

The full details on the event can be found here.
