Looking For A Summer Job In Bangor? Here Are Four Fun Options To Consider!
It seems as if, as seasons go, summer tends to be the shortest of all of the ones we get here in Maine. So we have learned to make the most of the couple of months of warm weather and sunshine we're allotted each year.
That being said, while many of us would love to have the luxury of taking the summer off, but since most of us can't, why not do the second best thing: get a fun summer job you'll actually enjoy!

Here are four fun job options to consider when looking for a summer job in Maine this year.
Lifeguard
For those of you who love time in the sun and the sand, or being poolside, why not consider becoming a lifeguard?
The majority of municipal pools and beaches open just as the school year comes to a close. If you have the correct credentials and certifications, keeping an eye on folks as they enjoy their time at the poor or by the sea could be a great opportunity for you if you enjoy helping people and working a job that gets you outside.
For pool gigs, most towns have lifeguard positions posted through their Parks and Recreation Departments, or local YMCAs. Many of those organizations also provide training and certification classes, if you don't already have the paperwork or skills you need.
To apply for a job working at one of the beaches at Maine's many State Parks, you can go straight through the State of Maine website, here.
Ice Cream Scooper
For those who enjoy handing out cool confections on a hot day, working as an ice cream scooper for the summer might be right up your alley.
Maine has a multitude of ice cream shops and stands across the state. Between the bigger companies like Fielder's Choice, Dairy Queen and Giffords, and the small mom and pop stands like Butterfields and Dairy Port, there's likely a stand near you that could use a good strong set of scooping hands.
Just pick your favorite place and inquire within, or check out their website. This is literally a gig where everyone who comes up to you is happy to see you and happy to get what you're giving them. Who could ask for more?!
Water Hydrant Flusher
Maybe you're the type who'd rather spend the summer cruising around town, listening to tunes and working with your best pal. If that's the case, the Bangor Water District has just the gig for you!
They're looking for a team to flush out hydrants all summer long.
"As Hydrant Flushing Assistants, the work is scheduled to allow for three day weekends all summer long. We need one individual that has a drivers license and is at least 18 years of age, and another that is between the ages of 16 and 99 years of age.
They say you can apply for this job either in person at their office at 614 State Street in Bangor, or online through their website.
Waterfront Concert Team
If you like to be where the action is, and you don't mind a crowd or loud music, maybe the Maine Savings Amphitheater is where you'd want to spend this summer.
They have all sorts of positions open from Clean Up Crew, Parking Staff and Restroom Attendants to Catering, Stage Crew or Venue Operations. You could get paid to work the concerts you'd otherwise be paying to see!
You can check out what they're looking for, by hitting up the "jobs" section of their website, here.
