
Authorities Have Closed Part Of Route 9 In Eddington Following Serious Crash
We're told part of Route 9 in Eddington has been shut down this afternoon, as emergency responders work the scene of a major accident.

The Penobscot County Sheriff's Office issued a statement on social media just before 2 PM Monday saying a bad crash occurred near the Eddington Town Office, and first responders are working that area at the moment.
"The Sheriff's Office is currently investigating a serious motor vehicle crash on Route 9 in Eddington. Route 9 will be closed in the area of the town office, while deputies, investigators and our reconstruction team manages the scene."
Motorists in the area should find an alternate route around that section of road for the foreseeable future, while authorities conduct their investigation.

According to the Maine Department of Transportation, there have been 266 motor vehicle crashes in the town of Eddington, just in the last 5 years.
That particular stretch of road (Route 9/the Airline Rd as it's also called) has historically been a hotspot for accidents.
