When a Canceled Flight Led This TV5 Anchor to the TODAY Show
Well, here's what's happening in your neck of the woods!
Let's reminisce about that moment over the summer when Angela Luna, now the former TV5 morning news anchor (she was with TV5 at the time), graced the TODAY Show.
Angela currently serves as a morning news anchor/reporter for KOLR 10 & Fox 49 in Springfield, Missouri, her home state.
On July 10th, 2023, Luna took to social media to share the amusing story behind her absence from work that morning. Returning from a visit with family in St. Louis, she experienced a layover at LaGuardia Airport in New York City before her flight to Bangor.
Unfortunately, the flight got canceled due to unfavorable weather conditions.
Undeterred by the setback, Angela skillfully turned it into an opportunity, embracing the chance to check off a bucket-list item by venturing to Rockefeller Center to watch TODAY.
The hosts, Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb, were conducting a segment outside the studio, engaging with the audience. It was during this interaction that they struck up a conversation with Angela. Proudly displaying her sign, Angela gave shoutouts to Bangor, TV5, and, most importantly, her mom.
Hoda even said, "Angela Luna. Don't forget that name."
The segment can be seen in the video below, starting at 9:47.
In an additional post, Angela revealed her admiration for Hoda since childhood, often turning to her commencement speech at Virginia Tech in 2008 for inspiration during her early days in the news industry. Meeting Hoda in person was a dream come true for Angela, and she couldn't help but gush about the encounter.
Delays and disruptions can be incredibly frustrating, especially in travel. Yet, Angela's optimistic spirit and adaptability shone through as she transformed an unforeseen setback into an extraordinary experience.
