Bangor Police had been involved in a pursuit with the pickup prior to its arrival in Hudson, that included multiple crashes and the truck driving through a public park while people were present.
Many residents called authorities when the truck began traveling along Broadway in Bangor, operating in an erratic and dangerous fashion.
When the deputies tried to get the driver to pull over, he fled the scene, leading a police chase.

The pursuit involved such dangerous behavior as crossing into oncoming traffic and multiple attempts to strike or force pursuing law enforcement vehicles off the road.
Two Sheriff's Department cruisers were damaged in the incident, including one that was intentionally rammed by the fleeing truck.
As the pursuit continued, the driver drove through fields and residential properties, in an effort to evade the deputies.
Because the operator was displaying such dangerous behavior, the pursuit was continued, in an effort to get him to stop and prevent further harm.
Finally, in Corinth, deputies successfully deployed tire deflation devices, but even that didn't stop the driver, who continued operating despite multiple deflated tires.
