A young couple is dead in what the police say was a murder-suicide.

Officials Have Released the Identities of the Couple

Emali Sallee, 19, of Lewiston, and Tyson Peters, 20, of Minot were found deceased on Thursday.

The Cause of Death of a Maine Couple is a Murder-Suicide

Deputies with the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office received a request for a welfare check at 425 Millett Road in Minot at around 6: a.m. on Thursday. Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says when the Deputies arrived they found the bodies of Sallee and Peters, both of whom were deceased. The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit was contacted to assist in the investigation.

The bodies were taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta where autopsies were conducted. The Medical Examiner identified the victims and ruled Sallee's death a homicide and Peters' a suicide, caused by a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officials say the two were in a relationship at the time of their deaths.
