Personally, it’s been a hot minute for me since I’ve physically been in the post office. If I need to have something sent out, which is not often, it’s usually a card in an envelope, and for the most part, I usually trust those big blue mailboxes. I just open those bad boys up, toss the card in, and then forget about it.

But that wasn’t always the case. Back in high school, I used to make some extra money by playing the ‘eBay Game.’ I would go around to different thrift, consignment, and discount stores in the area, and if I found anything of value or something that may be undervalued, I would buy it, then try and flip it online. Morally, is that the best thing to do? Absolutely not. But there are worse and more unethical gigs out there, I promise.

It might be surprising to learn that some folks still rely on paper checks, but it’s true. Paper checks continue to be popular as gifts for special occasions.

That being said, criminals are also well aware of this, leading to an increase in targeted attacks on mailboxes and mail carriers by those seeking to fraudulently obtain these checks.

In response to this growing threat, individuals are strongly advised to exercise caution and adopt secure mailing practices when sending or receiving paper checks. As technology advances, finding a balance between convenience and security remains essential to safeguard financial assets and uphold trust in both traditional and digital payment methods.
