If you ask around, you'll quickly learn that fans of Chic-Fil-A are often SUPER FANS of Chic-Fil-A.

I once worked with a gentleman who would make frequent trips to the nearest Chic-Fil-A location to his hometown.  This roundtrip normally took about 2 1/2 hours.  Of course, depending on how busy the location was, it could take up to 3 1/2 hours from the time he left town until he was back.

At the time, I did not really understand it.  Now that I have had a taste of Chic-Fil-A's food I completely understand it!

In addition to the amazing food that the chain serves, one of the most notable things about the chain is the fact that all of their locations are closed on Sundays.

You have probably heard rumors about why that is, but do you know the real reason why all Chic-Fil-A's are closed on Sunday?

Why Are Chic-Fil-A Restaurants Closed On Sundays?

For the longest time the story was always that the man who started the business was a devout Christian who did not believe people should be working on the Sabbath.  It turns out that the story was only partially true.

The real reason was that S. Truett Cathy, the man who founded the iconic chain, had spent years of his life working in restaurants.  Many of these restaurants were open seven days a week.

He saw the toll that this took on staff members who had families and he wanted to make sure that his employees would not be affected the same way.

The restaurant chain's website says:

Our founder S. Truett Cathy made the decision to close on Sundays in 1946 when he opened his first restaurant in Hapeville, Georgia. Having worked seven days a week in restaurants open 24 hours, Truett saw the importance of closing on Sundays so that he and his employees could set aside one day to rest, enjoy time with their families and loved ones or worship if they choose, a practice we uphold today.
