Maine FedEx Driver Named One of the Best in America

As a guy who grew up in a "truckin'" family, I have a great respect for our American truck drivers.

These men and women literally keep the United States going through the deliveries they make.  Whether you are talking about gas, food, furniture, or any of the millions of items purchased on Amazon every day, almost none of it gets to its final destination without a truck driver.

My respect and admiration is for both long-haul truckers and local delivery people.

One of our Central Maine trucks was recently named one of the best drivers in the country.

According to an article on the Maine Biz website, the National Truck Driving Championships is often described as being the Super Bowl of Truck Driving.  A Winthrop-based FedEx driver named Bob Cochran was recently took first place in the Straight Truck class at the 2026 National Truck Driving Championships in Pittsburgh.

The article explains that Drivers are put through a written test, a pre-trip inspection and a skills course that tests both their safety and precision behind the wheel.

Cochran has been a professional driver for nearly 40 years and has racked up two million safe-driving miles. This marks his ninth time competing at the national championships, after he qualified by taking top honors at the Maine Truck Driving Championships in May in Hermon.
