Is this the final season for Hermon Mountain?

There’s something really exciting about Hermon Mountain kicking off a new ski season in Maine. The air gets that fresh, chilly vibe, and everyone’s buzzing to hit the slopes again.

Whether you’re just learning to ski or you’re a pro looking for some good runs, Hermon’s got something for everyone. The lifts start spinning, the powder is fresh, and the mountain feels alive with energy and good times.

It’s the perfect way to jump into winter and have some fun with friends or family out on the snow. Let's hope it's not the last time!

Season passes are now on sale, and if you purchase your pass on or before October 31st, it’s 10% off.

But there is a possibility that this could be the last year Hermon Mountain will be open.

The Whitcomb family are the current owners, but they have announced that this will be their final season owning/running the ski area.

It has been for up for sale, since May of 2022, so they are still hopeful that someone will purchase it and continue operating as a ski area, if that does not happen, they plan on closing it down, then will look for alternatives to selling it. For now though they look forward to one more season of great snow, skiing, snowboarding and tubing!

The area was originally owned by a Skowhegan native named Albert Jackson, who acquired land in Hermon in the early 1960s and began ski operations.

It first opened around 1964 under the name Hermon Mountain Ski Area. It began very modestly, with a rope tow, a lodge, and a ski rental shop.

Hermon Mountain is a small, community-oriented ski area, ideal for families, beginners, and locals looking for affordable and accessible winter sports.
