Wanna be a Maine Game Warden? Well, here's how to get your feet wet.  Literally.

The Maine Warden Service informs us that they are in search of seasonal, part time, Deputy Wardens for next year.  The season would run between May 9th until the end of August, 2021.

You would be a certified and uniformed law enforcement officer working as a member of the Maine Warden Service, Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, and taking direction from Warden Service personnel.

This could be your dream come true!

Of course the main purpose of the gig is to protect fisheries and wildlife, so you should have a good working knowledge of all the rules and regulations, and also have an inkling of how to interact with the public. You must also be at least 21 years old and have passed the Maine Criminal Justice Academy’s Pre-Employment Physical Fitness Test within the past year.

If you end up being a Deputy Game Warden, you would be issued a state watercraft of some sort and then patrol specific bodies of water in either the Sebago Lakes Region, Belgrade Lakes Region or Moosehead Lake Region.

The "Deputy’s primary mission will include, educating the boating public, handing out department-sponsored literature, issuing warnings and summonses for boating violations", according the online help wanted ad.

Anyway you look at it this seems to be a pretty good opportunity to get your foot in the door and an opportunity to develop a pretty cool career working in the great Maine outdoors.

The hiring process is open from right now until December 20, 2020.  So, you better get to it!
