Here’s 2 Locally Found, Maine-Made Products For That Browntail Rash
I am already suffering again from the Browntail rash, Bangor! Remember these pictures?! This was me last year!
This year, I'm a little smarter with my outside activities knowing who lurks above in the trees. But I did come across some products for those like me who may need a little relief from the Browntail itch.
I found these products at Tiller & Rye on Main Street in Brewer. While the price range for a few of these products was a bit steep, the suffering I've been through in the past few years with the presence of these caterpillars made it so the decision wasn't so difficult.
Both products are made in Maine and found at various locations across the state.
'Browntail Moth Rash Relief' lotion and spray
This product is handmade in Blue Hill and is distributed to many retailers across the state- thank goodness! We could all use the relief. The producer states that the ingredients are 100% plant-based and come in a lotion or a spray. Both of these 4-ounce bottles were $20 each or you can get the smaller 2-ounce bottle 2-pack, with both the lotion and spray, for $15.
If you are a stickler for ingredients, here is the label which includes the list of ingredients and instructions for use. The website states this product is 100% plant-based ingredients and safe for kids and pets.
Check out their website www.browntailmothrashrelief.com to order straight from the website or check out the 'stockists' list to find a retailer near you. I did purchase these products at Tiller & Rye on Main Street in Brewer.
Here's the two-pack with the 2-ounce relief gift set, for the Mainer who likes options when you are feeling completely miserable with your rash.
'Soothing-Lotion'
Here's a second option that was available at Tiller & Rye and another Maine-made product. While this product says it helps with your Browntail rash, it looks to be a soother for many kinds of itches and rashes from a bunch of different sources, including poison ivy and bug bites.
It was $13.99 for a 1-ounce jar. The website says this product was created by a healthcare provider and a teacher
This product is sold throughout Maine at many independent retailers, including Reny's, Belfast Co-op, and even at Carver's Harbor Market on Vinalhaven.
Here's your ingredients list, including a warning to not use this product for children under the age of 2.
