Deja vu, anyone?

While Maine may have one of the highest vaccination rates in the country, the state now also has the highest number of COVID-19 infections in New England,  and with positive test results at Northern Light Health reaching an all-time high, the drive-thru testing site at Bangor International Airport will reopen this week for the first time since being closed back in June.

Over the past 4 days here in Maine, there were 734 new cases of COVID-19 across the state reported to the Maine CDC  along with 6 new deaths. There were 92 more infections reported within Penobscot County.

The COVID-19 testing site is being set up within the shuttle parking lot of Bangor International Airport and online scheduling and registration for testing have begun today, not only for that site but for the majority of Northern Light Healthcare sites.

If you are experiencing a fever or chills, a cough, difficulty breathing or shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle or body aches, a headache, loss of taste or smell, a sore throat, diarrhea, or a runny nose and congestion, then it's recommended that you be tested for COVID-19.

Tests are conducted at no charge to you.  Testing involves supplying a sample of mucus from either your nose or throat for analysis.  If test results are positive, then you should seek medical attention and quarantine yourself from others.

Tests are also done at Northern Light Healthcare facilities in Ellsworth, Blue Hill, Dover-Foxcroft, Greenville, and Pittsfield.

Things have gotten so bad that Dr. Nirav Shah and the Maine CDC will hold weekly briefings every Wednesday afternoon at 2.
