While Hancock's own Fred Ashmore is no stranger to the spotlight, setting records for the Cannonball Run and working his way into the entertainment industry, and ultimately onto HGTV's "Battle On The Beach" series last year, his older brother Arthur has stayed out of the public eye and away from cameras.

That is until this year, when younger brother Fred convinced Arthur to join him for season 2 of "Battle" in Galveston, Texas and Arthur accepted the invitation.

Arthur lives in Lamoine. And in 2006, he opened Arthur Ashmore Electric in his hometown.

Last year, Fred asked Arthur to ride shotgun in the Hawaiian Tropic replica he ran for the 50th Anniversary of the Cannonball Run.

Shortly thereafter, Fred asked if his brother would like to work alongside him for a bit.

For six weeks, the Ashmore brothers helped the cast and crew fix up houses for Season 2 of the  "Battle On The Beach" for HGTV.

Fred, who has a background in carpentry thanks to a family business, said that last year the carpenters on the show, who had apparently underestimated the Maine man at first, were very impressed with his skills and his work ethic. It only made sense that he show them that's a trait that runs in the family.

"When you are assigned a team, you have no idea the capability of the contestants. Fortunately, my teams both years have been amazing."

"My brother brought a unique skill set that no other team had and his ability to deal with my quirkiness and demands made him the greatest asset to the show."

"Other than having our father with us, who gave us our will to work hard, do quality work and succeed, I couldn’t have had a better person to work with. He is a smart, calculated, talented individual who not only knows his trade well but often knows other's trades as well or better than those he works with."

"I think the best part of working with my brother is knowing what to expect from him, his abilities, and knowing he can meet any expectations I put on him... I can give him a task or we can work a task together and I know it will be done not just in a quality manner but in a timely manner as well. The man is a legitimate genius and a total asset to anything he participates in. BOTB 2 was a better show because of my brother. Anyone who has ever worked with him in any capacity would agree."

As for Arthur, his take on the whole process of being in "show biz" was pretty down to Earth.
"It was mostly fun but occasionally frustrating. But it’s hard to separate the competition from the actual filming though. Some of the frustration was having to stop in the middle of something so as not to interfere with filming. I think it will be cool to see what made [it] on tv versus what was done on set."

As for working with his brother Fred, Arthur says it was a lot of fun.
"Fred and I have always worked well together and this was no different. We can be arguing one minute and [the] next minute be laughing and joking again."
Check out Maine's own Ashmore brothers on the Season Premiere of Battle On The Beach 2, on June 5th at 9 PM on HGTV.
