Free Movie Night Returns to Bangor: Watch How to Train Your Dragon Under the Stars

A free outdoor movie? That's not a bad way to kick off the weekend.

This summer, it is rare to have a non-concert night on the Bangor Waterfront, especially on a Friday, so it's the perfect opportunity to gather the family and enjoy an evening outdoors.

Bangor Parks and Recreation has teamed up with the Maine Savings Amphitheater to host a FREE screening of the hit live-action film How to Train Your Dragon.

The event takes place tonight, Friday, June 19. Gates open at 6:00 p.m., and the movie begins promptly at 6:30 p.m.

Best of all, there's plenty of space on the L.L. Bean Lawn to spread out and enjoy the movie on the venue's giant screen. It's also a great opportunity to check out the concert facility if you've never visited before.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase during the event. Please note that outside food and drinks are not permitted.

Guests are welcome to bring blankets for seating, but lawn chairs will not be allowed.

Attendees should enter through the Northwest Entrance, located directly across the street from Dunkin.

The live-action adaptation of How to Train Your Dragon follows Hiccup, a young Viking who lives on the island of Berk, where dragons and humans have been enemies for generations. When he unexpectedly befriends a rare dragon named Toothless, Hiccup discovers that everything his village believes about dragons may be wrong. Together, they embark on an adventure that challenges tradition, forges unlikely friendships, and could change the future of both Vikings and dragons.
