A familiar face to the Bangor area, Bob Glidden has passed away at the age of 96.

Bob started working in a Bangor auto body shop when he was just 17 years old. After returning from military service, he started Glidden Auto Body in 1964 and finally sold the business in 1977.

But even after he had sold the business, Bob continued to be the face of the business, starring in their commercials, for as long as he was physically able. The ad where he's acting as the conductor to an orchestra made up of auto body tools is one of the area's most identifiable. For many years, after selling the shop, Bob would still make appearances for special occasions, like the annual open house and car show. No matter where you saw him, he was always wearing his signature tan hat and had a big smile.

Glidden raised his three children in Orrington, where he lived most of his life. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lillian, and leaves behind his children and their spouses, a grandson, granddaughter, and her husband.
