Forecasters are warning Bangor area residents of overnight temps dropping to sub-freezing.

It will be a chilly night around the Bangor area. The National Weather Service in Caribou has issued a Freeze Warning for Southern Penobscot and interior Hancock counties, including the cities of Bangor, Brewer, Orono, Old Town, Amherst, Aurora, Dedham, Eastbrook, Great Pond, and Orland.

Temperatures are expected to dip into the lower 30's overnight, to early morning. A Freeze Warning means sub-freezing temps are imminent and frost and freeze conditions may damage sensitive vegetation. Residents in the warning area should take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.

Daytime temperatures will rebound into the 60s this weekend, with a mix on sun and clouds Saturday and Sunday.
