First Views of Bangor’s New Skate Park Are Pretty Impressive
Bangor's new skate park is moving along in its construction and it looks like it could be opening up for use very soon, possibly this Friday.
A post from 'Bangor Skatepark', the group responsible for raising funds and partnering with the City of Bangor for the project, was put up on Facebook on Friday showing the progress made on the building of the skate park, as well as revealing in the comments that the construction would be finishing up by the end of this week.
The photos reveal the concrete laid for the skate park and the variety of surfaces skaters will have when utilizing the park. The photos give you a better idea of the actual size of this project and the amount of space that those that skateboard will have, at least for the first phase of the construction of the park.
In April, Bangor Parks and Recreation revealed their plans of the stages of development for the skate park to be built in Hayford Park. The plans laid out a long, narrow section of the skate park to be built first with an additional phase to be added at a later time, once funds have been raised to complete the second part of the park.
In the end, the timeline is projected to have phase II completed next year with a total of 6,000 square feet of poured concrete into the park. This second phase is dependent on more funds raised through community fundraising and possible grants.
