Police have released the identity of a Holden man who died in a collision between a motorcycle and vehicle, Tuesday night in Brewer.

The deceased has been identified as Edwin Sheffer, 47, of Holden. Brewer Police say the accident happened just after 8 p.m. Tuesday in the 600 block of Wilson Street, near the intersection with Sparks Avenue.

Sheffer, who was driving the motorcycle, was deceased when officers, firefighters, and paramedics arrived. Sheffer is a local businessman, who owned Diversified Ink, a Bangor tattoo parlor.

"It goes without saying how tragic and shocking this is for all of us. We hope that you have patience with us as we grieve the loss of our leader, mentor, and friend," reads a Facebook post from the shop.

The details of the accident, including the name of the vehicle's driver, have not been released. Brewer officers were assisted at the scene by crash reconstructionists from the Bangor Police Department and Penobscot County Sheriff's Office. The crash is still under investigation and more details will be forthcoming.
