Farmer’s Markets Opening For The Summer Season
Sure sign of better weather and Spring and Summer here comes the opening of the outdoor Farmer’s Markets in the area.
It’s time. Whether it is in a city, or just a farmer at the entrance to the farm out in the country.
That is truly local shopping. And certainly farm fresh.

Bangor
We are in between seasons for Bangor’s Farmer’s Market which is held in the parking lot across from the Library. The winter was every second Sunday but that ended mid month. And Summer Seasons which are Sundays 11 a.m to 1 p.m. does not begin until May, so we are a day short and they’ll get going next weekend. By seasons peak there are dozens of farmer’s booths.
Brewer
According to the City of Brewer’s website the Brewer Farmer’s Market begins in mid May at the Brewer Auditorium Parking Lot on Wilson Street. However, the sign outside the Auditorium says it opens Saturday the 29th. So we’ll see.
Brewer in addition to the Saturday morning farmer’s markets also have Tuesday and Thursday sessions which begin in June. The Saturday morning markets have a couple dozen booths.
Ellsworth
Ellsworth Farmer’s Market is already underway. They reopened on April 1st and 15th and will be at 190 Main Street downtown Ellsworth, this Saturday the 29th between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Starting next Saturday, May 6h, the market will be open weekly on Saturdays.
Nothing like fresh vegetables, fresh fruit and other good things straight from the farm. Check back for updates as the season gets going in Eastern Maine.
And as you wait for the season to gear up with the products you purchase, reminder that today, April 28th is Arbor Day. A good day to plant a tree.
