If you've been looking for an excuse to dress up as your favorite Fairy Tale character and dance the night away, this weekend is the weekend for you!

The 2nd Annual Fantasy Ball is set to take place this Saturday night at a new location, the Bangor Arts Exchange, 193 Exchange St. in downtown Bangor.

Growing upon the popularity of last year's inaugural event, the folks at Down East Fantasy Con are hoping this year's ball will be an even bigger draw, as it's a major fundraiser for the group.

Full disclosure, I had the pleasure of DJing the ball last year, and was incredibly impressed, not only by the amazing costumes people put together for the event, but also the live vocal performances they had peppered throughout the evening.

I can't wait to see the costumes inspired by this year's theme, Fairy Tales! They'll have Hors-d'oeuvres and refreshments, a cash-bar, and coat check. Along with plenty of photo opportunities and the Memorymaker Photobooth, organizers have put together some pre-ball dance lessons, for a small fee, should you want to learn a few moves to take with you on to the dance floor.

They also plan on having a costume contests and silent auction at the event, and they will be giving away some door prizes, too. But the real draw, in my opinion, are the costumes. They were amazing last year, and people had so much fun showing them off. It was a one-of-a-kind evening, for sure.

Doors open at 5 for the dance lessons, and the dancing starts up at 6 and runs till 10PM. Tickets are $25 per person or $40 per couple. Its a 14 yr and above event.
