Details are still coming in about what prompted the arrest of the Chief of Police in Dover-Foxcroft on criminal charges.

46-year-oldRyan Reardon was charged with aggravated assault and criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, after an arrest warrant was issued in Piscataquis County. According to WABI-TV, Reardon is accused of assaulting her, including allegedly trying to strangle a woman with whom he was having an affair, and threatening her with a gun. Court documents say the woman went to the hospital with injuries to her neck, throat, and ear.

Reardon is being held without bail at the Penobscot County Jail.

Before joining the force in Dover-Foxcroft three years ago, Reardon was the Sheriff of Kennebec County.
