Chow down, have some fun, and help a great cause.

Wednesday, February 17, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., there will be a Dempsey Center Spaghetti Dinner and Dance Fundraiser at G-Force Adventures featuring G-Force Laser Tag, located at 510 Wilson Street in Brewer. This event is hosted by a good friend of the Z Morning Show, Brandon Morris, who we met when did our Children's Miracle Network Radiothon.

It's just $5 to get in, and all proceeds will go to the Dempsey Center, who make life better for people managing the impact of cancer, with locations in Lewiston, South Portland, and now a third virtual location, Dempsey Connects. Services are provided at no cost. The Dempsey Center services include helping cancer patients, survivors, care partners, and family members of all ages. They provide a personalized, holistic and integrated approach to cancer prevention, education and support.

In 1997, Patrick Dempsey's mother, Amanda, was diagnosed with cancer, and when she passed in 2014, he helped start the Patrick Dempsey Center at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. In 2009, when Dempsey introduced the first Dempsey Challenge, that features cyclists, runners and walkers. It has become an annual October event in the Lewiston area, raising millions of dollars over the years.

Patrick Dempsey was born in Lewiston, and grew up in the nearby towns of Turner and Buckfield. He of course is best known for his role as neurosurgeon Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd in Grey's Anatomy, but he has been in quite a few hit films over the years, including "Outbreak", "Scream 3", "Sweet Home Alabama", "Made of Honor", "Valentine's Day", "Transformers: Dark of the Moon", "Bridget Jones's Baby", and the '80s teen classic, "Can't Buy Me Love"
