This song is a very touching tribute for a man we tragically lost last week

Tuesday afternoon, a man from Bucksport, named Chris Sargent posted a video to Facebook of a tune called "Luke's Song", which is a tribute to Deputy Luke Gross, who was fatally struck by a pickup truck while responding to a call in Trenton on Route 3 last Thursday. Gross was out of his patrol car, after being called to a report of a vehicle that had gone off the road when he was hit and killed by a passing motorist.

Deputy Chris Sargent posted the following quote, along with his song.

“Luke’s Song”
There are truly no words to adequately pay tribute to Luke Gross, a man of solid values, morals, distinction and heartfelt compassion toward all. Those who knew Luke are better for it, myself included.
My voice has always been best served accompanied by chords and melodies. So, I offer “Luke’s Song”, as humble a tribute as it may be, to our fallen hero. Gone but not forgotten 💙

Sargent, who also works in Hancock County law enforcement, has had his heartfelt song shared several hundred times in the last several hours. He is a very talented singer and songwriter, and "Luke's Song" is a moving remembrance of his friend.

A funeral service for Deputy Luke Gross is set for this Thursday at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hancock County Sheriff's Charities, DARE, or to the family c/o Hancock County Sheriff's Office, 50 State St., Ellsworth, ME 04640.
