Brewer Police Release Details of Crash that Injured 4

Police have released more information about an accident between two vehicles Thursday night that left four people with injuries.

The accident happened just after 8:30, at the intersection of Wilson Street and North Main Street. Brewer Police say a Chrysler sedan, driven by 23-year-old Mark Corson of Bangor was traveling at a high rate of speed when it crossed the Joshua Chamberlain Bridge, entered the intersection, and ran a red light. Also in the sedan was a passenger, 27-year-old Kirk Panther of Bangor.

Corson's vehicle struck a Chrysler minivan, driven by Wanderley Mancuzo, 51, of Florida, with passenger 63-year-old Maria Mancuso-Munhoes, also of Florida. The minivan flipped upside down and Corson's vehicle struck the brick wall that contains the city of Brewer sign, in front of Tiller & Rye.

Both people in the minivan and Corson had to be extricated from their vehicles by Brewer firefighters. All four people were transported to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Corson has been charged with felony driving to endanger and also summonsed for failure to stop at a red light. Brewer Police were assisted at the scene by the Maine State Police and the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office.
