Yup, these beautiful animals are out there.  Our advice?  Back off, and observe.

These photos were taken just this past week.  One in South Thomaston, and the other near Hermon Pond in Hampden.

The average adult Maine Bobcat weighs about 20 to 30 lbs. and is about 3 feet in length. They eat things like deer, woodchucks, rabbits, mice, poultry, pigs and insects. They spend the majority of their time crouching in the woods undercover, waiting for they're dinner.  The average lifetime of a Maine bobcat is three to four years.

Earlier this summer, an officer with the Bucksport Police Department shot video of a bobcat walking the railroad tracks at night.
