Most people can barely walk in the dark, let alone run in it!

The Maine Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships at Bates College looks like any other track meet, until the final event, the 4 x 800 relay, when the fieldhouse lights go out.

The "Blackout Relay" was born one year, when a howling wind storm caused a power outage, but the runners kept going, and the crowd kept cheering, so now it's an annual event at Bates.
