Plenty of new Christmas music is out but, looking at the Billboard's Hot 100 list, the few Christmas songs charting right now makes it look like people are turning to the classics for their holiday playlist.

There are a few exceptions to this that include Little Nas X's track 'Holiday' and more modern covers of the classics from Justin Bieber and Kelly Clarkson but, this year we want nostalgia like we haven't seen in decades and there's a lot of that on this year's list.

If you are looking for a list of seasonal songs that you want to build your own quintessential holiday playlist, just turn to what's trending on the Billboard Hot 100 right now.

Topping the list is Mariah Carey with 'All I Want For Christmas Is You'.

Next in order of charting positions are classic, tried and true selections from the nostalgic Holiday song picks: Brenda Lee 'Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree', Bobby Helms 'Jingle Bell Rock', Bobby Helms 'Jingle Bell Rock', Andy Williams 'It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year' and Jose Feliciano 'Feliz Navidad'.

Most of the holiday tunes that hit the Billboard Hot 100 this year are wicked old classics.  Only a few have emerged after the 'Holiday Music Golden Era' of the 1940's - 1950's, including Wham!, Mariah Carey, Carrie Underwood and others.  The more modern songs are a mix of covers of classic holiday music, such as Justin Bieber's cover of 'Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree', and originals, like Mariah Carey's 'All I Want for Christmas Is You'.

One sticks out like a sore thumb and isn't very characteristically holiday, Lil Nas X's 'Holiday'.

This list covers could a gambit of old and new when it comes to your holiday tunage.  So, without further adieu, here are the holiday songs topping the Billboard Hot 100 list this week in 2020.
