Be A Santa To A Senior In Blue Hill This Christmas Season

There's no doubt, this past year has been hard on many. One group of folks who have suffered tremendously, especially with issues of isolation, are Senior Citizens. Being in a high risk category when it comes to the Covid-19 Pandemic, a great number of our elderly haven't been able to visit with family and friends, and in some cases haven't even left their homes, for the better part of a year. And many folks living in Nursing Homes across the state have been dealing with strict visitation policies or worse yet, Covid outbreaks within their facilities.

One local organization is hoping to bring older folks in the Blue Hill community a little bit of light and cheer this holiday season. Cheryl Sheasby, owns a local franchise called Home Instead, a company that provides care services to Seniors who are still living in their own homes.

According to a recent story from Fox 22 Bangor,  for the past 6 years, Sheasby has run the "Be A Santa To A Senior" program in the area. She has set up a donation tree in the Tradewinds store in Blue Hill. She hopes folks will stop by and consider getting a gift for a Senior. Simple gifts, to remind Seniors that they're being thought of, can make such a difference in their day.

"People can pick up ornaments with the name and wish list of a local senior...Gifts can then be dropped back off at the Tradewinds location. You can visit their website to make a money donation that will be used to purchase gifts."

The gifts will be delivered to Seniors this week.
