Meet Bar Harbor’s ‘Plowy McPlowFace’ and ‘Sled Zeppelin’ [PHOTOS]
A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.
How about a snowplow?
I am a snowplow fan. And if you are not, you must be a fan of what they accomplish for all. Admit it. It is a pleasure in the dead of winter to drive on a road that was just freshly plowed.
And if those roads are in Bar Harbor, in the future you will have a name to express your gratitude to.
They will be names like "Plowy McPlow Face'" "Angelina Snowlie" or "Colonel Sanders."
We're not certain which plows are which. The following photos are from last week on the Bar Harbor Public Works Department lot.
Here’s the story: This past spring Bar Harbor Town Council voted to name the snowplows and the sanders.
Two were named after longtime plow drivers. Bulldog and Herbie. Respect. That’s respect when they name the plow after you.
Also this season we’ll see "Sled Zeppelin," "Snow Dancer," "Winter Warrior," "Acadia Clipper" and "Grit’er Done!"
The idea seems to have come from Scotland. They’ve been naming their plows for a few years. "Mary Queen of Salt," "Sweet Child O Brine," "Boaty McBoatFace," "Buzz Iceclear," "Creedence Clear-Road Revival."
The State of Vermont just jumped on board announcing their snowplows will be named going forward. "Captain Snowpants," "Yo Bro-No Snow," and "Jennifer Snowpez" are among the names. How about "Snowbegone Kenobe?"
Washington State has "Obi-Wan Plownobi" and "Plow Chicka Plow Plow."
With names like all these, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
