Bangor police responded to Walmart Wednesday morning after an individual reportedly threatened to detonate a device in the parking lot.

Police responded at approximately 7:35 a.m. after the threat made by an "unknown person" was reported by Walmart security, the Bangor Police Department said in a news release Wednesday afternoon.

The parking lot was immediately closed and an explosive detection K9 was called in.

After an investigation, officers found the threat to be unsubstantiated.

The parking lot was closed for approximately two hours.
