Thriller-Thon Flash Mob Coming to Bangor, Maine This October

You’ve probably heard about Portland’s annual Thriller Throwdown at Monument Square, where a mob of ghouls and zombies gather to recreate Michael Jackson’s iconic “Thriller” music video. The event has been taking place since 2013, and now Bangor is getting its own version!

The Thriller-Thon 2026 takes place Saturday, October 10, at 10am at Bangor’s Cameron Stadium. Registration begins at 9am.

Participants can create a fundraising page through 99Pledges and raise money through sponsored Thriller-Thon dances.

Want to learn the dance? A YouTube tutorial will be available to help participants learn the choreography. Event information and updates can also be found on the Facebook Event Page

Most participants will perform the choreographed dance as they travel around the track. Don’t want to learn the routine? You can freestyle with the larger group, or simply walk or run around the track. After the Thriller-Thon, additional songs will keep the dancing and fun going.

Food trucks will be on hand, including Del’s Frozen Lemonade of Bangor, so bring some cash! There will also be raffle tickets available, plus prizes for the top fundraisers and awards for costumes and other fun categories.

The event benefits Best Buddies, a nonprofit dedicated to inclusion and creating opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Founded in 1989, Best Buddies creates opportunities for people with and without disabilities through friendships, employment, leadership development, and community programs. Its programs help reduce isolation, build meaningful relationships, encourage independence, and strengthen community connections.
