A Bangor man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that happened on Outer Union Street earlier this month.

Bangor Police Sergeant Wade Betters said Albe Lagasse, 51, is charged with Elevated Aggravated Assault, which is a Class A felony. At 11:30 a.m. on June 18, police were called to outer Union Street to a report of a dispute involving gunfire. When officers arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound to his lower leg. He was given first aid until paramedics arrived on the scene.

The officers determined that the other involved party had left the scene in a vehicle. He was located at a residence on Everett Street, suffering from a gunshot wound to his facial region. Both men were transported by Bangor Fire to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.

Betters says the incident stemmed from a domestic argument involving an adult female. During the dispute, Lagasse allegedly produced a firearm and fired it. As a result, the victim is alleged to have returned fire, causing Lagasse's injury. The name of the other person involved has not been released.

Lagasse was arrested on Monday and taken to the Penobscot County Jail, where bail was set at $25,000.
