Bangor High Moves Graduation Ceremony To Orono [VIDEO]

There will be no "Pomp and Circumstance" at the Cross Insurance Center this year.

Back in 2013, I had the pleasure of watching my nephew graduate from Bangor High School, in the then brand new Cross Insurance Center building.

When it comes time to hand out diplomas on June 5th this year, Bangor High grads will put on their caps and gowns at the Harold Alfond Sports Arena at the University of Maine. This is all due to a scheduling conflict with weekend performances of Cirque du Soleil, that dates back to October 2014, when the shows were booked.

Originally, school officials considered changing the date of grad weekend, but it's long been a BHS tradition of holding the ceremony on the first Sunday in June.

The Class of 2017 can expect graduation weekend to return to the Cross Insurance Center, next year.
