On this the most sacred of days, May The 4th Be With You!

Today, fans of Star Wars from all over the world, celebrate the iconic franchise with "May The 4th Be With You". It of course originates from the infamous catchphrase "May The Force Be With You"

Back in 2008, the first Facebook groups appeared, celebrating Luke Skywalker Day, with the same catchphrase, and it has snowballed from there. In 2011, the first organized celebration of Star Wars Day took place in Toronto, Ontario, and now it is an annual event that millions of people celebrate.

For me personally, I absolutely loved the first three movies, "Star Wars", "The Empire Strikes Back", and "Return Of The Jedi" As I got older, my interest waned, which means I have not seen any of the many films, tv series, and cartoons that have followed over the years. Clearly, I am in the minority on this one, because just a simple YouTube search shows that right here in the Bangor area, the love for this franchise remains strong. It has been such a huge influence on our culture, a remarkable 44 years after the first film debuted.

We found some cool videos of fans enjoying the premiere of "Rogue One" at Bangor Mall Cinemas, back in 2016, a mini Star Wars convention ahead of the release of "The Last Jedi", R2D2 visiting young patients at EMMC, back in 2010, NESCOM getting pumped about "The Force Awakens", back in 2015, and at Bangor Comic Con in 2016.
