Check out this once in a lifetime opportunity for anybody that wants to take on a new adventure deep in the Maine woods that many artists would consider a dream.

The Allagash Wilderness Waterway is awaiting a new visiting artist to be inspired by it's remote beauty in the deepest woods of Maine and create art inspired by the location.  And by remote, we're talking 60 miles from the nearest town and a true 'off-the-grid- experience.

Last year was the first year the Allagash Wilderness Waterway opened up the opportunity for artists to apply to live in solitude along the state-protected tributary.

The first artist of residence was Michael Vermette who created incredible works of art during his time last year.  Here is a video of Vermette talking about his experience and even showing off his sweet digs deep in the woods of Maine during his time as the first visiting artist of the program.

Wanna get in on this once in a lifetime opportunity?  Fill out the 'Allagash Wilderness Waterway 2021 Visiting Artist Program' and submit it by February 28th.

The artist that is chosen for the program will get two weeks in a rustic cabin on the Allagash waterway in August.  And by rustic, we're talking no electricity, hand-pumped water, woodstove, solar powered lights.  Truly off the grid.

The chosen artist will also get a tour of the Waterway with a ranger, and the opportunity to have a guest join them during their stay.

For more information, visit the Maine.gov website dedicated to the Allagash Wilderness Waterway.
