In case you haven't yet had the pleasure of visiting the Brewer River Walk, it spans from the field next to where Mason's is located and runs a little over half a mile, beneath the Joshua Chamberlain Bridge.

MaineTrailFiner.com says is a great wide, fairly level stretch of path that can accommodate strollers or wheelchairs, and even allows for dogs.

"The paved trail is suitable for strollers, wheelchairs, and others with limited mobility. It is ten feet wide and of a mostly level grade. There are metal posts to keep out motorized vehicles at the trail entrances; there is a 4.5-foot space between them at the southern trailhead, and 3 feet between them at the northern trailhead."

There are plenty of places along the path to stop and sit and just take in the view.

According to a statement released by the City of Brewer this week, Brewer's Mayor Michele Daniels said she looks forward to folks getting a chance to experience once again some of the great things Brewer has to offer. The half-acre Children's Garden, located midway along the trail, features themed plantings, short walking paths, a waterfall, and an area for events such as weddings or performances."

"We’re so excited to be able to support Brewer businesses once again in the Riverwalk Festival. It is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to get out and enjoy our beautiful Riverwalk, have fun with the family, eat some amazing food, and also check out our Brewer businesses while having a great time.”

As for what's on the schedule, the festivities will kick off Saturday morning at 8 AM when the Farmer's Market opens at the Joe Ferris Community Center. There will be a fun run, that folks can take part in at 10:30 AM. The meet-up for that will be at the Penobscot St. parking lot. There will be exercise and yoga demonstrations along the Riverwalk. Children's activities will go on from 11 AM to 4 PM, including a fun scavenger hunt along the Riverwalk path. They'll have theater performances, musical performances, and opportunities for folks to simply walk along the path and enjoy the sunset.
