Put this burger on your Maine Summer Bucket List!

Going to a fancy dinner can be fun, but sometimes all you crave is a good old-fashioned, no nonsense cheeseburger, which tastes even better when it is served at an iconic drive-in style restaurant.

Taste of Home is a website that inspires togetherness through creative cooking, sharing and entertaining.

They share recipes for the best desserts, appetizers, main dish recipes, and the best of the best in the country, when it comes to food.

When it came down to choosing the best cheeseburgers in each state, whittling it down to just one in Maine, could not have been an easy task, but it sure sounds like a good time.

When the dust settled, one destination in the Pine Tree State stood aboove the rest.

When the weather gets nice, Mainers flock to Brunswick to visit Fat Boy Drive-In. This old-school burger joint is only open from May through September, making it a must-stop for folks visiting Vacationland. The locals love it too!

The 1950's style drive-in means that there is a car hop to take your order, so be sure to ask for their signature "Whoperburger", which is a patty topped with lettuce, tomato and Fat Boy’s signature "Whoper" sauce. Also, it a must to wash it down with one of their tasty milkshakes. You could also throw in an order of homemade onion rings too!

Fat Boy Drive-In was originally established in 1955. It was owned by the Burton family for over 50 years, until it was purchased by Mike Jerome, in May 2020, which as we we all remember was right in the thick of the pandemic.

Even though they put out the 50's style drive-in vibe, they keep up with the times, by catering to dietary restrictions, offering cashless payments, and hosting fundraisers to give back to the community.

You know you have a summer road trip coming up at some point, so head to Brunswick, and try this legendary cheeseburger.

Take a look at their Instagram page to get a look at all the delicous items on the menu.
