There will be holly jolliness in the streets of Bucksport this year!

The Town of Bucksport announced yesterday that the 6th Annual Holiday Lights Parade will take place on Saturday, December 11. Santa will be impressed and we're sure that all of those that appreciate the most joyous season will be as well.

The tradition of a holiday lights parade in Bucksport began back in 2016.

"That first year there had to be close to 1,000 people watching the parade from the streets, from their vehicles, from their homes, and from local businesses," said Richard Rotella the town’s Community & Economic Development Director.

Last year, because of the nasty COVID-19 pandemic, the parade was "stationary,"  where folks in their vehicles traveled along Main Street admiring the parked floats, people dressed in holiday character costumes, and past different groups and organizations.

"The stationary parade on Main Street really lifted a lot of people’s spirits," Mr. Rotella went on to say.

This year though things look to return to normal, somewhat.

The 6th Annual Holiday Lights Parade will step off that Saturday at 6 p.m. and follow a different route, although one that has been used before during the Bucksport Bay Festival Parade.

The newer and longer route of the Parade will travel along Franklin Street to Mill Street and then back along Main Street.

If you would like a holiday float in this year's Annual Holiday Lights Parade, then contact the Bucksport town office at (207) 469- 7368.  More information can also be found at BucksportMaine.Gov.

Holly Jolly, everyone.
