The body found at a Durham recreational area Tuesday is that of 43-year-old Alan Kelley of Durham, who most recently had been living at a Lewiston homeless shelter, said Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.

There is no immediate indication of foul play, but the state medical examiner’s office will conduct toxicology tests before concluding the results of the autopsy, McCausland said.

Detectives said a hypodermic needle was found in Kelley’s clothing and they're still trying to determine how and when he arrived at the Runaround Pond recreational area, since he had no car.

He also was not dressed for sub-freezing temperatures.

Kelley was estranged from his wife and children, who live about five miles away from where his body was found, McCausland said.
