March 22 - March 28: See how Michael Jackson, Madonna, Rihanna, Soundgarden, Gorillaz, Nas and Mariah Carey marked this week in history for the past 30 years in pop music.

1991 - MJ and Madge

The Academy Awards' red carpet is graced by pop royalty when Michael Jackson escorts Madonna to the ceremony.

1994 - Soundgarden

A diverse selection of tunes top the charts including Nine Inch Nails, Ace of Base and Seattle rockers Soundgarden, who have the #1 album in the U.S. Superunknown.

 

2001 - Gorillaz

The animated band, fronted by Blur band member Damon Albarn, launch their first debut self-titled album.

2010 - Rihanna

The Barbados Bombshell is #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Rude Boy".  The song is #1 for 5 weeks.

2014 - Nas

Nas performs his album Illmatic with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center in New York City.  It is a performance for the One Mic: Hip-Hop Culture Worldwide festival.

2015 - Mariah Carey

The world is exposed to the first ever Carpool Karaoke on James Corden's late night show and features diva Mariah Carey.
