It sure does seem like the rules are all over the place...

Here in Maine, it kinda feels like it's hard to get a straight answer as far as vaccine requirements. Gov. Mills has her healthcare mandate here in Maine, but nowhere else. No businesses are required to besides healthcare facilities in Maine. But then there's also this whole Supreme Court ruling yesterday.

While I'm sure the majority of people get what's happening, there's probably that small contingency of folks that are thinking it's time for a victory lap. Sadly it's just not the case.

In a nutshell, the Supreme Court denied the president's hope to make all businesses with more than 100 employees require their employees to vaccinate. It didn't make it past the Supreme Court, so things will move on business as usual. Because the ruling doesn't really affect anyone but the businesses.

So what does it mean for the regular folks out there?

Well, here's where some folks are interpreting the ruling wrong. As a private business, they can still require you to vaccinate as part of your job. The ruling just means the president can't make anyone do it. But that doesn't mean you can tell your boss to go fly a kite if they want you to mask at work. You'll still have to comply with your job's policies, according to NewsCenter Maine.

And in Maine, jobs are all at-will. That means your employer can hold you accountable for all their rules, whether you like them or not, and terminate you for not following them. So if you're walking around celebrating that you won't have to mask at work anymore because of the Supreme Court, you're totally missing the boat.

While I'm sure the majority of people get what's happening, there's probably that small contingency of folks that are thinking it's time for a victory lap. Sadly it's just not the case. But hey... we can just keep our eyes on the prize and hope this nightmare eventually ends. But in the meantime, you might wanna talk to your boss.
