An early Christmas gift from the City of Bangor, is yours for the taking!

I Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this weekend, we "Fall Back", which means when you go to bed Saturday night, you have to turn the clocks back an hour, which means come Sunday afternoon, the sun will set at 4:18pm, so you can expect total darkness by about 5. Depressing right?

The point of all this, is that winter is coming soon. Cold, snowy mornings, cleaning off your car, shoveling, snow blowing, and your basic dose of misery in general, unless you enjoy that sort of thing, if you do, Bangor Public Works has a little something to help you, and all of us out.

With the arrival of cold weather, Bangor residents can pick up FREE sand at Public Works, which is located at 530 Main Avenue.

This offer is available, Monday-Friday, from 8am-4:30pm, for use on icy sidewalks, driveways, and stairs.

Residents are limited to two 5-gallon buckets at a time and are asked to bring their own.

It should be mentioned that there is some salt mixed into the sand to prevent the sand from freezing in cold weather, five parts sand to one part salt.

People on the City of Bangor Facebook page seem to appreciate the idea:

This has been incredibly helpful over the past few winters. 🙂 Thank you all!

Jessie Dunning
Thank you so much!

I'm with them, I will gladly stop by with a couple buckets and fill them up!
