Who Knew Maine Had A Garlic Festival?

Maine is getting ready for a two-day festival all about one of the best foods on earth. Maine's Garlic Festival is coming to Skowhegan this Saturday and Sunday for two days to honor one of the world's greatest foods!

Growing garlic in Maine is becoming much more popular to grow here in the state. It's easy to grow and is usually the last crop to plant in the fall and the first to emerge in the spring.

Celebrate this crop that can be grown here in Maine by venturing over to Lake George Regional Park at the West Side Picnic area and island. The event kicks off at 9:30 AM both days. Admission is $5 for adults and kids 12 and under get in for free.

The festival isn't just about garlic but is a good excuse to get people together and have a good time. There will be all kinds of fun activities including an obstacle course run, cornhole, kayaking, and canoeing in the lake, music and adult beverages will be available as well. Also at the festival will be vendors and art exhibits. Vendors will be selling locally produced and grown items from local crafters, artisans and farmers.

There are a few specific events scheduled for both days of the festival. Saturday will feature a bike ride starting at 8:30 AM and a kids' sack race at 10:30 AM. Sunday will have a one-hour yoga session in the Park by Skowhegan Outdoors from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM.
