Waterville Business Fined $394,000 By OSHA
A Waterville business located on River Road has been fined almost a half million dollars by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, also known as O.S.H.A. for several safety violations according to a report by the Morning Sentinel.
The Shyft Group Duramag LLC, which manufactures truck bodies at an industrial plant in Waterville was fined for ignoring numerous employee reports of unsafe work habits that were brought to the company's attention but never followed up on.
According to a news release by O.S.H.A. earlier this month, fall and noise hazards were ignored and placed employees at risk. O.S.H.A. began an inspection beginning in October of 2020.
During this inspection process O.S.H.A. uncovered several serious incidents of safety violations that the company now has 15 days to correct the issues, request a conference, or fully contest the finding by the investigation.
The company headquarters located in Michigan has stated they are working with O.S.H.A. to rectify the issues. They currently employ about 250 people.
