[WATCH] Maine Dude Shows How to Dig, Fry Up Steamers on Sears Island Beach
Chris Taylor hosts a YouTube Channel all about adventures in Maine called Maine Stream Adventures. It's sort of a one-man survival and outdoor channel where you get to go on a trip in the Maine outdoors.
In his latest episode, Chris heads to Sears Island with his dog, Gemma, and sets up on the beach to dig for clams.
As he digs into the sandy beach on Sears Island, he mentions as he's digging that he sees a squirt which is apparently a sign of being close to a clam. Once he digs one out a graphic comes up explaining that a license is required to dig for clams and what size of a clam is permissible for harvesting.
Chris uses a digging tool and his hands at dusk to get the clams out of the Sears Island beach.
On day two of his clamming adventure, Chris sets up a fire on the beach with an iron ring, loads up a pan from the beach with some saltwater for boiling. Chris boils the water, gets the clams in for a few seconds to steam them and open them up, then fries he shucks the clams, adds some extra ingredients to coat the clams, and throws them in a separate pot with oil to fry them up.
Chris takes them out of the pot with some nearby sticks, a real outdoorsman move, right there.
The video ends with Chris enjoying his freshly foraged and fried clams using a local sweet chili sauce to put on the clams and exclaims 'Friggin awesome, guys'. And, we get to watch the glee of his dog when Gemma runs off and takes a swim in the ocean.
