Yesterday it was announced that all Mainers that have received a COVID19 vaccine can take part in a statewide sweepstakes. In fact, if you haven't gotten it yet and want to take part, you still have time.
Governor Janet Mills announced the sweepstakes yesterday to encourage more Mainers to get a vaccine and for those that already have to get the chance to be rewarded for doing so.
The sweepstakes is called, "Don't Miss Your Shot: Vaccinationland Sweepstakes", a clever take on Maine's tagline 'Vacationland' altered for a pandemic sweepstakes. The sweepstakes will allow every Mainer who has had at least one dose of a COVID19 vaccine to enter the sweepstakes. The prize depends on how many people get at least one shot of the vaccine.
The catch is that each person who has had at least one shot of a vaccination equals one dollar into the pool of money that will be won by one person. As the numbers stand now, according to the information sent out about the sweepstakes, the jackpot is currently at $876,655, meaning 876,655 shots have been given here in the State of Maine so far. The final jackpot amount will depend on how many people altogether get a vaccination shot by the Fourth of July.
To sweeten the sweepstakes pot, an incentive has been added for Mainer's who haven't receive a shot yet. For those who get vaccinated between now and July 4th at 6 A.M. an additionally dollar will be added to the pot, which means $2 for each person vaccinated between now and Independence Day.
