Trenton Man Allegedly Stole a Vehicle, Ran Over the Driver
A bizarre case in Ellsworth on Tuesday involved an attempted stabbing, a driver being run over by his own vehicle, and a kidnapping.
Ellsworth Police Officers responded to a local business on Tuesday to a report of a stabbing and a man who had been run over by a vehicle along High Street. As police responded to the call, they learned that the owner of the pickup truck had exited the vehicle as he was driving it after a passenger allegedly threatened him with a deadly weapon. The passenger, identified as Matthew Milliken, 35 of Trenton, then ran over the driver. He left the scene with a female passenger against her will.
Police located the pickup truck on Main Street by a Hancock County Sheriff's Deputy who pulled the truck over. The female passenger jumped out of the vehicle and Milliken was taken into custody with the use of what Ellsworth Police termed a 'less lethal weapon.'
The woman was not hurt but told police that she had been threatened with a deadly weapon and taken against her will. The owner/driver of the pickup was transported to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital with unspecified injuries. The names of the victims were not released.
Milliken was taken to the Hancock County Jail and charged with class A robbery, class A kidnapping, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon, and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
This case remains under investigation by the Ellsworth Police Department.
