Expect one of Bangor's busiest avenues to be even crazier this coming weekend.

The City of Bangor announced that this Friday, June 11th at 8 PM to Monday at 4 AM, traffic will not be able pass a particular section of State Street. The road will be closed with the exception of construction personnel and local traffic.

The construction causing the road closure on State Street includes the replacement of a culvert as well as reconstructing 60 feet of the road. During this construction there will be rerouting of a sewer main which will stretch across the width of State Street.

The section of State Street that will be closed for the weekend is Summit Avenue to Cascade Park.

Expect traffic to be routed down Fern Street and off of Hogan Road. Don't worry if you get a little confused because flaggers will be present at the State Street/Howard Street intersection and the State Street/Hogan Road intersection. Also, messaging boards will be out and signage will be up to help with communication to us drivers who are navigating the area.

Despite the rerouting, drivers will still be able to access Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center and, as mentioned above, locales if you are 'local traffic' or construction personnel or vehicles.

Work will be wrapping up early Monday morning so, expect a passable one lane to be open for the morning commute on Monday.
